My body of work will be focusing on spiritual rebirth through the privilege I had of documenting the religious practise that is baptism, particularly in South African context. The theme "In the Beginning" often refers to the concept of origins, creation or the start of something new. It can encompass various subjects, including nature, birth, childhood or even spiritual rebirth. Baptism is a symbolic act of purification, renewal and beginning a new life of faith. Through my series of images, I convey the transformative experiences associated with baptism which are typically spiritual and emotional. I'm capturing the moment of baptism occurring in the setting of a large body of water, the main if not only physical element needed in the ritual.”

How my photographs are an effective/compelling interpretation of the theme I convey the transformative experiences associated with baptism which are typically spiritual and emotional. capturing the moment of baptism occurring in the setting of a large body of water, the main if not only physical element needed in the ritual.”  By shooting this golden hour and adding artificial studio lights to the scene it allowed for the subject to be well lit while in the body of water, providing the viewer with an in-depth way of visually engaging with photographs exploring spiritual practice.
