YOUTH PORTRAITURE

When I think of Youth a bunch of words jump to my head, words like “energetic, vibrant, vibes, naïve ignorant, exploring, curious and clicky. These are the words I associate with youth and more. When I think of contemporary youth and their association with these words it reminds me of the complexities of being the youth, especially with the contradictions of today like technology the internet and social media which this generation is the first to grow up in this climate. At my age at the end of my time of being youth, but as a designer, photographer and culture curator I’m still active participant as my work is informed by the youth.

 

The elements of youth I identify with is the music, fashion, art and social event they indulge in as a journey of finding their identity and learning about themselves. On the other hand, the elements I disagree with is how the internet has dethatched them with physical interaction with fellow peer and other people, this is less of a judgement but more of an observation. How my subject relates to youth is through fashion and music as he is a Skater, Model and Taste maker. My goal with this series was to have the subject express himself and what he does through his work and his environment.
